Maria Foster

Founder

My name is Maria Foster, and I started this website to talk about all things food and kitchen.

I have to admit that I wasn’t someone who was always comfortable in the kitchen, and it didn’t come naturally to me.

Growing up, I would watch my Mom and relatives cook, and it was magical but also intimidating to see them doing what they did. Where did they learn that? How do they know what to use and when? I had a lot of questions and never felt drawn to do these things.

Well, skip ahead a bunch of years, and while raising a family of 3 with my husband, you quickly learn all that you need to know!

And I’ll let you in on a secret – the key to being a great cook is confidence. Don’t be afraid to try new things and sample different ingredients.

If cooking makes you nervous, I do understand, but I’m here to hold your hand.

If you’re ready to cook amazing food for your partner, children, and friends, take a look around and find something that tantalizes your tastebuds.

And if you want to chat, you can reach me at maria@foodchamps.org.

Happy cooking!

My name is Lisa, and I’m the resident fitness enthusiast and nutrition expert here at Food Champs.

I have a nutrition degree from my home state of Florida, and I work for a large health system to ensure sound nutrition and dietetics information is passed on to all members.

I love sports, including running and swimming, and spend hours each week filling my time by playing different sports.

It’s very important to me to fuel my activities and my body with the right food, so I spend a lot of time trying new recipes and experimenting with my own creations.

If you want to chat with me about nutrition and fitness, email me at

Hey there, I’m Brian!

My relationship with food and culinary skills began when my mother involved me in her cooking while growing up as a young boy in Colorado.

Fast forward 30 years, and my culinary passions have led to me being a master gardener focused on growing as much of my own fresh produce as I can in my lovely home garden.

I’ve also studied the culinary arts and worked as a chef in a variety of establishments.

I’m so proud to say that I even sometimes supply local restaurants with my homegrown vegetables.

I’m really passionate about growing your own – there’s nothing more rewarding than watching a vegetable grow and then using it to make a delicious dish.

If you love homegrown produce and good food, we can chat at

My name is Diane, and I live with my husband and our two children on our small ranch in Southern California.

Here, we grow a good portion of the food that I prepare for the family in a variety of kitchen creations.

I had formal culinary training when I was younger, and I’ve spent stints in multiple noted restaurants in my region.
I currently consult with commercial catering businesses, which I absolutely love.
When I’m not working, I enjoy writing about food … almost as much as I enjoy cooking it.

Fun fact – I’m also an apiarist (or beekeeper).

I’ve fallen in love with the challenge and relationship with my bees, and I really enjoy being able to harvest my own honey each year. I always share it with friends and family and, of course, use it in my cooking.

If you’d like to chat with me at all, you can reach me at

Hey there, I’m David, a longtime foodie from Virginia.

I was initiated into good eating and amazing cooking as a result of growing up with my mother and my grandmother.

I swear, to this day, that they made some of the best-tasting and presented food that you can imagine.

So I suppose it’s not surprising that making and enjoying great food has become an important part of my life.

I enjoy cuisine from a variety of cultures, and I’ve become quite adept at an interesting mix of French, Italian, and Mexican culinary styles, even if I do say so myself.

I’ve done this both as a personal passion and professionally in a variety of settings, including as a personal chef.
