Ducted ventilation makes the process easy, as your range hood connects directly to an outflow duct that draws smoke and particulates out of your kitchen and pumps them out into the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While using an outflow duct is better for your kitchen&#8217;s air quality, it&#8217;s not always a feasible option. Installing an outflow duct may be cost-prohibitive for some, especially if you&#8217;re only putting in a new range hood instead of doing intensive renovation work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A filtered hood range uses a filter, usually made out of charcoal, to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osti.gov\/servlets\/purl\/1129518\">trap pollution<\/a>, smoke, and moisture while the fan recirculates the air in your kitchen. Many range hoods are specific to one type of system, but you can use the Presenza with an outflow duct or a filter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are connection points at the top of the range hood and the rear of the range hood. You&#8217;ll also get a damper, allowing you to choose between installing a 3 \u00bc x 10-inch standard rectangular outflow duct or a 6-7-inch circular vent. If your kitchen has a pre-existing outflow duct, we recommend connecting your hood range to it. While aluminum isn&#8217;t as durable as stainless steel, it&#8217;s a lightweight, inexpensive material that&#8217;s adequate given the Presenza&#8217;s size. A charcoal filter is included, and you should replace your charcoal filter after every 120 hours of use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Charcoal is effective at filtering out sediment, particulates, tastes, odors, and volatile organic compounds, also known as VOCs. <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/26731690\/\">Common VOCs<\/a> in food include chloroform and toluene, but they&#8217;re most commonly found only in trace amounts. However, breathing in chloroform and toluene can cause dizziness, tiredness, and nausea, so we can&#8217;t overstate the importance of changing your filter when it&#8217;s time to do so. Good news: charcoal filters are generally pretty cheap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can toss the Presenza&#8217;s mesh filter in the dishwasher, but it&#8217;s best to use the low-heat cycle to avoid damaging the mesh. The mesh can also chip away at the plastic coating on your dishwasher racks, which can lead to rusting. Always take precautions when you clean mesh using the dishwasher. Want to avoid any potential mishaps? Wash your mesh filter by hand. The fan is relatively quiet even on the highest setting, and if you&#8217;re using a filter instead of an outflow duct, it&#8217;s generally a good idea to use the highest fan setting while you cook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the event of excessive smoke production, the Presenza may not provide adequate suction. Leaving a window open while you cook will aid in ventilation and help remove stale, musty odors your range hood may not be able to filter out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Features of the Presenza Range Hood<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Many kitchens have poor lighting to begin with, and your range hood will block some of the light available. Fortunately, the Presenza range hood includes two bright LED bulbs. There&#8217;s a button on the front of the range hood, so you can easily access the light switch without fumbling around under the hood. Thanks to the added lighting, you&#8217;ll be able to see what you&#8217;re doing as you cook, though some might find them a little too bright for their taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One thing to keep in mind is that you&#8217;ll need an electrician on hand to install this range hood. It doesn&#8217;t come with an electrical plug because it&#8217;s meant to connect to your home&#8217;s electrical system. You can have the range hood spliced into your kitchen&#8217;s electricity, or you can have the Presenza retrofitted with an electrical plug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some Presenza range hood reviews won&#8217;t mention any potential downsides, but there&#8217;s something you should be aware of before you make your purchase.
