Even if you have the right amount of water, if your heat is too high it will boil too quickly, and again, your rice won\u2019t be able to thoroughly cook. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your rice will also be undercooked if you don\u2019t give it enough time to cook as it should.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Undercooked rice is easy to identify. The outside of the rice might seem fluffy and perfect, but the inside will be crunchy, dry, and hard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To test if your rice is cooked properly, pick up a grain and squeeze it between your finger and thumb. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If it squeezes easily, then your rice is cooked. You will need a couple of sheets of paper kitchen towel and these should be wet with water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Squeeze some of the water from the paper towels, so they\u2019re not completely sodden, and then place the sheets over the top of the bowl that contains the rice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Place the bowl in the microwave and microwave it for a minute. This rice will be gummy, and the grains may split as starch is released from the rice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, there is no way to take water out of rice grains and make them drier again. If your rice is soggy and gluey, all you can do is take your soggy rice and make something else with it! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Soggy rice is a great base for rice pudding, so grab some milk, sugar, and vanilla and turn it into a lovely dessert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To prevent rice from becoming soggy, we recommend rinsing the rice with cold water before you cook it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will see that cold water becomes a little cloudy as it washes the rice, and this is because the excess starch is being released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fixing Hard Rice<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Hard rice is rice that isn\u2019t quite done yet.
